Reefer Madness!!! – The Play!!!

Reefer Madness!!! – The Play!!!

Economic Stimulus Productions

Brown Venue, 2010 Orlando International Fringe Festival</strong>

It looks like this show spent its budget on exclamation points. Many of you have suffered through the classic antidrug movie “Reefer Madness”, and except for some Jazz piano playing by a hop headed Cab Calloway, it drags like all those black and white pre-war “Educational Films”. Still, the orginal does have a bit of a story line and plenty of camp value, and Economic Stimulus Productions has sucked out most of the dull spots and upped the camp about as high as it can go. Youthful T. Scott Wooten plays Dr Alfred Carroll, the anti drug expert whose main claim to authority is his stentorian voice. Using a trouble light and a box of cheap props, he and his cast (Katie Castonguay, Jan Ray, and Michael Titone) re-enact the movie, juicing up the sex scenes and miming all the dope rolling and smoking. The result is what you might call “Fringy”, its funny, doesn’t require much thought, and is over in less than an hour.
