Zach Lupetin & the Dustbowl Revival

You Can’t Go Back to the Garden of Eden

The press release for the latest album from Zach Lupetin & the Dustbowl Revival says to “think Dylan and The Band in Newport meets Louis Armstrong in New Orleans meets Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeroes on the beaches of LA.” Honestly, I can’t think of any better way to describe You Can’t Go Back to the Garden of Eden.

The opener “Marching On” combines the gumbo-jazz of New Orleans with a ’30s-ish swing revival (made popular back in the ’90s by Squirrel Nut Zippers) and a hint of bluegrass. And that’s just the first track!

“Nine Lives” sounds like it came directly from the oldies station. It fits perfectly next to Buddy Holly and Frankie Valli. “Dan’s Jam” is a perfect combination of The Roarin’ ’20s and backwoods roots music from the Deep South.

“River Blues” is straight-up blues, while “National Geographic” would fit perfectly in almost any movie with a scene showing multiple newspapers’ headlines proving that whatever is happening is really important.

Zach Lupetin & the Dustbowl Revival is truly an original band. They take literally a dozen or more genres and mix them all together to make a perfect concoction that not only will satisfy almost any fan of music, but it is so fun that you won’t have any choice but to listen to it over and over again. Then you’ll find something different every single time you listen, which will keep you coming back even more. Before you know it, Zach Lupetin & the Dustbowl Revival will be among the most played on your iPod.
