Feds probing possible criminal violations in home foreclosure crisis
Washington (CNN) – Federal law enforcement officials said Tuesday the probe of potential fraud by financial firms in the foreclosure crisis includes an investigation into possible criminal violations of federal laws.
Two sources familiar with the federal Financial Fraud Enforcement Task Force indicated the multi-agency effort by investigators in the Justice, Treasury and Housing departments would determine whether prosecutors would ultimately pursue criminal or civil penalties – or both.</em>
As clear as the criminal activity appears to be in this scandal, don’t bet the mortgage that our spineless government will do a thing to punish those who broke the law. Nope, they’ll pass along the cost of the fleecing onto the very people who paid it once already- us.
