Seize the Fewcha

Nervous Records

House isn’t dead; it just jumped over to Facebook where it’s playing Angry Birds with Mr. Electro Pop. Junior Sanchez commands these wheels of steel with complete street cred; he’s worked with Ima Robot, Morningwood, and remixed everyone from the Gorillaz to Daft Punk. This comprehensive set fills nearly an hour, and just brings you up to that daze of sweat that chants “More. More. More.” Pop a Rock Star, dump in a double of Stoli, let’s get down to business.

We open with “BRRRAT!” with its innocuous weather report opener from that plastic Barbie with the big hair on Channel Two, but Armand Van Helden and Steve Aoki slip her down into a sampled and bassed up thumpathon, as Jr. S slides us along into Christopher Just’s “Cuter (On My Computer)” and the dance floor fills when he takes us up to his own “Heavy Mental.” Single letter drugs aren’t required; this mix picks up a mind of its own and takes on a surprising journey. Some tracks slim down to beat box minimalism: “Where Are You” and “Whole Sh’bang,” while others pour the turkey gravy over the phat like “Weee!” or “Attack Music.” Most tracks sport remix titles that drip with insider jokes. Groove to “PlayDaRave” or the “Laidback Luke Remix” but dance as the tracks build you up and drop you down like a wooden roller coaster on a termite mound. We exit with Harry “Choo Choo” Romero’s “This Time Goodbye,” and I for one need a cool down lap. That’s in a few bonus remixes they tossed into the press download, but now I’m too sweaty to type so you’ll just have to trust me.
