Joan Crawford’s House Party

Joan Crawford’s House Party

By Doug Ba’aser

Orlando International Fringe Theatre Festival – Pink Venue</strong>

Doug Ba’aser’s upper lip can out over-act any entire person at the Fringe. Tonight he’s reprising Joan Crawford from last year’s “Hell” show so he’s slipped into her gin-pickled skin and invited us all over for drinks. Joan is loving and abusive mother and not nearly as sane as Kim Il Jong and she had her living room expanded to include 120 stadium seats. She keeps adopted daughter Christina locked away until she needs menial help or she just feels like power tripping. Adele (Joshua Eads Brown) drops by for abuse as well, and even lady Gaga shows up wrapped in nothing but sexy crime scene tape. (Subtext: straight guys will like the show as well). Four hapless men are pulled on stage, forced to dance for less than fabulous prizes (a tin of sardines, Comet, and a dodgy gift certificate). But they do get drinks, real ones, and you might too if you close enough to the bar. Video outtakes of Jane’s career pop up, they slow down the action but allow for more fabulous costume changes. This show brims the best of the Footlights Theatre drag show dance party energy and fulfill 100% of your Minimum Daily Camp requirement.

This show is part of the Orlando International Fringe Theatre Festival. Tickets and other information may be found at http:\www.OrlandoFringe.org
