Keith Brown: Exchange

Keith Brown: Exchange

By Keith Brown

Orlando International Fringe Theatre Festival, Brown Venue</strong>

As magic shows go, this one is full of nice staging and new angles. For instance, I’ve never seen anyone force a necktie. Brown pulls this off to open the show; the result is a nattily dressed young man with a great stage presence and ability to overcome audience flubs with grace. Cards fly, audience members make random choices and still all the numbers add up. The boldest and best effect came with the risky choice of bringing a preteen girl on stage to help with the “sewing needles on a thread” illusion. That’s where he swallow 10 sewing needles and a piece of thread, and just at the critical moment Young Miss Assistant cracks “What are ya gonna do? Cough up a scarf?” It brought the house down, and nearly made sewing needs come out his nostrils. Priceless!

This production is part of the 2014 Orlando International Fringe Theatre Festival. Information on tickets and show times may be found at http://OrlandoFringe.org/
