There’s a lot of standing around to do at any Feldman event, and this one was particularity standing intensive for the audience. In a riff off an earlier project (24 Hour Embrace)24 Hour Embrace Feldman chose to hug his mother for a much easier 24 minutes but in three different cities: Orlando at 11 am, Washington, D.C. around 4 pm, and Philadelphia later this evening.

The day was clear and hot, and downtown Orlando parking was dominated by church services and a midafternoon non-Feldman “event.” The Feldman “event” began with little fanfare; Feldman just sort of muckled on to his mother and there they stood, swaying slowly like the last dance at prom. Photographers took pictures, but with this essential static scene they were soon forced into photographing each other. A mother and her two children arrived; the kids seemed less than thrilled, but they put up with it gracefully. Personally, I explored what a super macro setting could do to urban detritus and time passes, as it so often does. Feldman’s sister Adrienne joined the huddle and then we were all asked to enjoin in a group hug which forced the now-participant photographers to revert to selfies. By then the twenty four minutes were up, and the Feldman team was off to the airport. Rumor has it Feldman bought Mom a first class ticket but hoped to go himself as carry-on.
