I love the tag line or this show: “Perfect for the whole family. Not Suitable for Children.” And that’s the facts; “The Bubble Gum” machine blasts high energy pop with a script that can’t decide if it’s right wing enabled or just National Enquirer bate. Robbie (Kriegel) and Debbie (Summer Aiello) never wanted kids, but they got one anyway. Little Abby (Sarah French) is precocious and misinformed; she thinks “Sexting” means “Sassy Texting.” She also loves suppressing emotion, a mouth full of balls and loves working the trunk of a 1998 Buick. Their stage show is packed with heart pumping tunes; the sock puppets are laughably racist, and while Robbie is using railroad flares and a klaxon to signal “I’m GAY!” nothing ever seems to come out of it. The plot is a mess, nothing seems to connect but the music is a blast and gags all connect. Pop divas have backstories even if they are on the Oklahoma county fair circuit, so see this one for the hippy dippy set and the rocking songs. And yes, leave your children at “Anne Frankenstein…”

This show was part of the 2015 Orlando Fringe Festival. Information on tickets and times may be found at www.OrlandoFringe.org.
