Prestigious Insanity: A Magic Show

Prestigious Insanity: A Magic Show

ILLusions Productions

With Spencer Hojdila

The 2016 Orlando International Fringe Festival

Orlando, FL </strong>

I saw Spencer’s show last year and I’m happy to report Mr. Hojdila’s illusions and presentation continues to improve. Rather than last year’s happy-go-lucky approach to stage magic he’s now taking a darker path with a mental institution vibe as the overall theme. The illusions are more gruesome; his “dental floss out the eye socket” was particularly cringe inducing, and his swallowing razor blade effect was nicely done. A bit of mass hypnotism worked as well although he gave away more of how it works then might have been essential. This evening’s highlight came at the end when we saw him attempt to push a rather nasty spike though his hand and that of a volunteer. While simple in essence, it worked amazingly well and he claims it as his own invention. I hope he invents a few more, his delivery is good and his home grown innovation will aid him immensely. It’;s good to see an entertainer grow; this is a low keyed but nicely executed evening.

This commentary was prepared from a technical rehearsal.

This show was presented as part of the 2016 Orlando Fringe Festival for show times, tickets and more information please visit . http://orlandofringe.org/
