So You Say You Want A Revolution

So You Say You Want A Revolution

Orlando, FL</strong>

A lifetime ago John Lennon sang about peace, love and understanding. He’s just one in a long line of optimists, and so far none of them have gotten very far. This musical tribute looks back to the peace songs of the 1960’s and 1970’s with the focus on Mr. Lennon’s work, although Harry Chapin and Supertramp and Stevie Wonder pop in for a short chat as well. Mr. Piano Bob plays the music and sings along on most tracks, relies on records for a few others, and regales us with tales of his youth growing up in the anti-war era of Richard Nixon. He regard the Lennon lyrics as a gospel or mantra, and dissects them with the aid of a cluttered video projection, and makes it clear that we need to Give Peace A Chance and Imagine a world with pain or trouble. Sometimes charming, sometimes a bit of a lecture; this is a solace for a Beatles fans who can never get enough of the good old music.

This Commentary was prepared from a technical rehearsal.
