Dancing Out The Door
Here’s a record that takes you back to the earliest days of rock and roll. Leading this group is the whistling Dan Bruskewicz, Dan Cask adds screaming and there’s even an occasional blast from Sousaphonist Joshua “JAM” Machiz. The net result is a happy, upbeat group that can even take a good death song (“John Wilkes Booth”, “California Basement Blues”) and turn it into a happy bouncy dance number.
The group came out of the fetid Philly scene, but they sound like a Memphis rock-a-billy juke joint denizen. There’s an electronic twang lurking in here, but at its heart this is a roots rock band that could have scored big on old shows like Midnight Special or the Old Grey Whistle Test. I just got a crew cut and I’m looking for a poodle-skirted girl to go dancing with.
