Ronnie Wood
Mr Luck – A Tribute To Jimmy Reed Live At The Royal Albert Hall
BMG
Two-time Rock and Roll hall of fame inductee Ronnie Wood and his band are back for the second of a three part tribute project to his influences with Mr. Luck – A Tribute to Jimmy Reed . Recorded live at Royal Albert Hall November 1st 2013, the album smokes through a number of Jimmy Reed hits and in addition to his own incredible band, the album features another Rolling Stone alumni, Mick Taylor. The night also featured special guests Bobby Womack, Mick Hucknall, and Paul Weller as they tastefully nod in appreciation to the legend that is Jimmy Reed. The cool thing about live albums is the excitement you hear from the audience and how that affects the way the musicians perform. Starting out with “Good Lover”, “Mr. Luck”, and “Let’s Get Together” you can feel the joy that everyone involved gives these songs. Paul Weller lends vocals and guitar to “Shame Shame Shame”, while “Got Nowhere To Go” features Mick Hucknall of Simply Red fame. Bobby Womack, who unfortunately passed away the year after the album was recorded, lends his legendary vocals to both “Big Bossman” and “Bright Lights, Big City”.
The final song, “Ghost of a Man”, is a nice bookend on the album with Ronnie singing about what Jimmy Reed and his music means to him. The album is now available on all streaming services and online retailers in all formats including both standard black and special blue vinyl copies. The album is a must have for both Ronnie Wood and Jimmy Reed fans.
