The Office Holiday Party Musical Extravaganza Show

It’s that time of year: Office party time. As the year ends and we look back, its time to use some of our precious vacation hours for the one thing we all dread: Spending “Quality Time” with our co-workers. Its not clear what they do at “Grippe and Pfister,” but it involves cubicles and an IT guy. It’s Office Space but much gayer. Name tags are required, and you select a seat on a roll around in the cubicle farm. There is plenty of alcohol (cash bar only, unless you come prepared) and enough drama to make this party seem like a normal workday. There’s the uber Christian married couple and the ultra Jewish Jewish Princess seeking her prince here at G&P. There’s the middle age guy who specializes in lateral transfers and has no fixed desk, and a flock of IT guys on roller shoes, snaking through the crowd.

As the alcohol peels away inhibitions, people say things HR would never approve of. Senior management makes a small effort to keep the drunks on their best behavior. We ignore her. Like all environmental theater, you get out what you put in. I never did get to talk to the IT guys or the Pastor, but my other interactions were fun and spontaneous. And I’ll say this; this party was way better than my day job entertainments.
