To Whom It May Concern:

I read an article in your website [March 1998 issue] on the Hare Krishna movement in Gainesville, Florida, and have to say that your writer is not objective at all. In fact it appears to me that this Gregory Schaefer should go ahead and change his name to Oddpoot Baboot (or some other ridiculous Indian name) since he has obviously been taken over by the Krishna spell.

What I mean is that these so-called “peaceful vegetarians” have already brainwashed Mr. Schaefer and have made him turn his back to his Catholic roots and accept a savage Eastern religion, philosophy, and way of life. It is a well-known and well-documented fact that one of the main recruiting tactics used by the Hare Krishna movement is drugs and psychoanalytic brainwashing… THE FOOD IS POISON!

Now we’re working on stopping the lunches at UF, but are more focused on getting the Krishnas out of Gainesville in entirity. However we also feel the need to see what sort of pro-active Krishna publicity is out there. Your magazine’s online version seems to be guilty (I did not find this article printed in the paper version).

We feel that you should not only discontinue the publishing of this article on your website, but should also counter the damage already done by this article by printing a statement of regret and of public urgency. It is not too late. Your magazine can salvage its social and moral decency by urging readers to beware of the mischevious actions of anyone with a bald head in robes. They are not to be trusted. In addition to doing this, you should also direct your writer Mr. Schaefer to a counselor. Judging by his article, it appears that his Krishna Mind Kancer has progressed strongly, but it may not be too late for him to return to the kingdom of GOD. Our GOD, not theirs!

We thank you for your time and interest. If you have any questions please call me.

God Bless,

Rev. Jimmy Johanesburg
