Severna Park

Severna Park

First full-length release from this Seattle based pop group, and it pops like Rice Krispie rock. Pop is a very large playground to get lost in, but Severna Park found the center and are swinging high. Crisp clean clear melodics strung tight over smiling drumbeats and steady-as-a-breadcutter bass lines. The vocals and guitar wrap around each other and sting. Songs like “Bionic Rocket” and “Color Blind” stand out as the strongest, perhaps because of the way these songs seem to be naturally infected with those catchy hook laden riffs… not that the other songs aren’t, but some hooks are sharper than others. It’s not innovative, it’s not intelligent, thought provoking music, but it’s well crafted, shining bright, and a damn fine good time. Having fun is not a bad thing, and Severna Park knows how to have fun. Wanna dance? Severna Park, 1122 East Pike St, Suite 771, Seattle, WA 98122; severna@thefunk.com
