Less of a thematic record than a companion piece to last year’s Manage The Damage, this album contains remixes of tracks found on that LP alongside tracks heretofore unreleased stateside. Although this album is “dance music,” Jimmy Somerville has the remarkable ability to create moving lyrics and danceable rhythms that suit his soaring falsetto and avoid the sterility so prevalent in most dance music. In fact, several of the tracks on here are domestic releases of tracks that were successful singles elsewhere in the world. I find that this album is one of those rare dance records that can be enjoyed on the dance-floor or in your own room. This disc makes a good party record or after-hours album.
