Winterbrief

Take The Town

Intellectos

Winterbrief return with another set of brutal Casio-core, ten tracks of undiluted electronic sharpness. The duo of Jan and Julian use guitar and keyboards interchangeably and aggressively, bringing another direction to the use of electronic sounds – it’s not your typical synth wash, nor your overblown distorto attack. On top of the beats and jagged jingles floats Jan’s voice, taunting and full of attitude. The overall result is irresistible, a sort of saucy punk disco that compels you to herk and jerk to the beat. A remix of “Chick Flick” (from their previous album) by The Hit Device is one of the noisiest, gratuitously grating remixes I’ve ever heard, if you’re into that sort of stuff.
