Motorplant

American Postcard

Shiretown

This is the garage band that everyone wishes had come from their hometown. There are some lucky local audiences this side of the Rockies, because Motorplant is hot. There isn’t a bad track on American Postcard – it’s purely life and just some of the coolest, fun but serious, college-folk songs we’ve heard in a while. Ryan Adams fans not to worry, they rock a littler harder than he does, but they do share that handcrafted, down to earth subject acknowledgement. Postcard has a freshly worn feel, while still managing to sound like the best vintage find. The writing proves that they know more about life (and music) than you’d expect. Don’t miss “Awkward Girl,” “am i,” “Stuck Inside,” and “Wounded.”
