Yes, indeed, people who believe what they want to believe, people who have someone in whom they want to believe, people who cut off anyone who has a dissenting opinion. No matter how informed that opinion. These people find themselves in an ever-shrinking cul-de-sac which usually breaks down into “My god-figure said it, I believe it, that settles it.” They hurt themselves and the things they claim to love.

Oh, I’m talking about the people who manipulated “intelligence” to get us into Iraq. Who’d you think I was talking about, Buffy fans? Nah, that parallel doesn’t fit at all…
