The Sound of the Crowd

A few more basics

Censors form opinions on what you and I shouldn’t see based on things that they, themselves haven’t seen. From Monty Python’s Life Of Brian to The Last Temptation of Christ to Dogma to now, CBS’s Reagans miniseries. You have to ask yourself what they find so frightening about a different point of view–or, worse, something that actually is “fair and balanced.” CBS will probably cave but I hope they won’t–the idea of a network submitting a film to any political party, especially one in power, for review is such a blatant definition of censorship it’s scary. On the other hand, they’ve probably insured a nice little rating for the series–if it airs. There seems to be some question of that–and if it does, it may be on Showtime instead of CBS. Of course, if they really want to bury it, they’ll put it on UPN.
