And today’s movie of the week is…
Spartan, the new thriller starring Val Kilmer and William H. Macy, written and directed by David Mamet. Kilmer, who usually needs a shit detector almost as much as Affleck, is actually great in this. And Macy, well, the trailers gave too much of his part away, and Eberts’ Law Of Extraneous Characters takes care of the rest, still, it’s always great to see him.
Some–like, say, the woman sitting behind me–may feel that it falls apart at the end, but by that time you’ve been through enough of a wringer and your nerves are shot enough to appreciate any ending, however many holes it may have and how big.
