The Sound of the Crowd

watching and wondering

Mark Evanier points out something I’ll be both watching for and wondering about this evening on the Tonys: Will any of the presenters or winners make reference to Reagan? Almost all of them are liberals, and some have very specific gripes about what he did (or more pointedly, didn’t do) as president.

Personally, just from the point of view of an entertaining show having nothing to do with any morality (I sound like a FOX exec), I kinda hope they do. Nobody watches the Tonys anyway, and given how ridiculously hurried the broadcasts typically are, a good trainwreck could at least reward the faithful.

Mark also says that as he’s seen none of the shows nominated this year he has no favorites. Niether have/do I, but I’m looking forward to Hugh Jackman’s expected win for Boy From Oz.

Of course, I’m also hoping he’ll use his acceptance speech as an opportunity to come out, but that’s probably less likely than the above-mentioned trainwreck.
