The Sound of the Crowd

Uh-Oh

We are so completely, totally and utterly screwed.

You know how John Kerry keeps saying when he’s president, he’ll win back the allies George Bush lost us, and get them to share our burden in Iraq? Well, according to today’s Los Angeles Times, said potential allies are saying “No you won’t, either.”

In fact, they’re pretty much saying the US has made its bed, and now has to sleep in it. And the thing is, could any of us look them in the eye and say they’re wrong?

Something occurs to me. I’ve said in the past that Bush is doing more for the Democratic candidate than the candidate himself. But a Kerry victory may do more for the Republicans than another four years of Bush ever could.

They’ll be handing him a deadly cobra of a war that they started and now he can’t stop. A world ringed with terrorists that they helped incubate. A listless economy created by their tax cuts. He’ll have a throughly corporate press corps watching over him.

If he succeds at meeting these challenges, he’ll be a god. But if he fails, the Republicans will be right there in four years saying “See?”

To reiterate, we are so completely, totally and utterly screwed, aren’t we?

I need Phoebe to press her breasts against me…*
