The Sound of the Crowd

Hella funny

Shaun of the Dead is brilliant daddy cool. There’s jokes you’ll only get if you know the genre–near the beginning, pay attention to the names of those announced as having mysteriously called in sick from work. But there’s more that are just hella funny (“Stop saying hella, Cartman!”) no matter what you know–and I don’t know a lot, so I unquestionably missed some. But I was either jumping or laughing too hard to care. And there’s even that witty touch of satire-like.

It’s getting rare reviews–currently a 90% positive rating from Rotten Tomatoes, better than Kill Bill and almost as high as Lost In Translation.

I’m so pleased for the guys that made it. And that if it proves to be the smash hit here that it was in the UK I can smugly if honestly say I’ve enjoyed their work for years.

Pathetically little, the things that keep me going.
