The Sound of the Crowd

The Last Mary Cheney Post

…I think. Mark Kleiman and Hoffmania both pointed out today that there are a lot more important things to focus on than whether Kerry should have said something that was true. Like, say, all the things Bush has said that are not true, and all the things that have happened because of them.

They’re quite right. So, following this…unless I see something about it I just absolutely have to pass on…I’ll be focusing on those other things. However, Media Matters for America makes the point that conservatives are spinning this to make it seem as though Kerry did something worse than he actually did.

They also quote Salon.com’s Eric Boehlert making the reasonable point that, “[T]he Cheneys themselves remained relatively quiet last month when the Republican candidate for the Senate in Illinois, Alan Keyes, called homosexuals, and specifically Cheney’s daughter, ‘selfish hedonists…[raising] suspicion that the current outrage is politically driven.”
