Still Stuck in Your Throat

Sound In Color

On their first album of new material in over 6 years, Fishbone prove that they are still the same colorful band of freaks they have always been! From the band that was one of the first to throw funk, punk, ska, reggae and metal into the proverbial blender I’d expect nothing less!

The band still features founding members Angelo Moore and Norwood Fisher, but for Still Stuck in Your Throat they’ve brought in a new slew of musicians including Suicidal Tendencies’ guitarist Rocky George. They also brought back an old secret weapon on the mixing board, David Kahne – the man who worked the boards on their classic ’80s releases including Truth and Soul.

While ska-punk has long since worn out its welcome for much of the music-listening world, Fishbone still find ways to make the good time riffs and horn blows as attractive as a lazy afternoon and a cold drink. Hell, they can even make war and politics sound like light topics of conversation.

“We won’t see the end/ If we party till our colors blend/ ‘cause the Bushs and Bin Ladens are friends/ Never drop a bomb again/ All right/ We can break the chains/ If we party like our blood’s the same/ Party till we lose our aim/ Never shoot a gun again” – from “Party With Saddam.”

They end the disc with with their longtime live favorite, a cover of Sublime’s “Date Rape.”
