Sleep Well Destroyer

Awake and Dreaming

Self-Released

Hardcore. Post-hardcore. Metal. Whatever you call it, Sleep Well Destroyer is it, and they kill it on their debut album Awake and Dreaming. They murder their instruments on tracks like the “The Blade, the Wound, the Suture, the Scar” and the fantastically-titled “My Restraining Order Doesn’t Say Jack About Writing You a Song.”

They add a little electronic backdrop on “Brotherhood Is Nothing Without Your Brothers,” tipping their sound into the industrial pool before lead vocalist Drew Tuzson’s roar shatters any illusion that they are becoming the next Stabbing Westward.

While Sleep Well Destroyer may not be groundbreaking and may not come from a hotbed of metal (the sleepy western Nebraska town of Scottsbluff), they do bring a ferocity that is matched by few.
