This commentary was based on a technical prevue.
Once I was the only audience member at an improv show. Awk-ward. Today there were two others but even three people is still far short of a good improv minyan. This was a tech rehearsal with very restricted audience competing against the always somniferous Mayor Buddy Dyer Show, but these Canadian rap artists seem to have their free styling skills down pat. They mix raps based on suggestion with more traditional improv games. Their freestyle about a butterfly worked quite well, they even rhymed “nice date” with “fornicate”. A scene about a strict father with a home confessional for his son was less successful; I attribute that to my note taking and not paying attention to the laugh points. These guys are rather pale like most Canadians, but their beat box sounds do rock.
