The good: These operatic and show tune singers sounded GREAT in the Black Venue! The bad: She doesn’t die. We were offered Chekhovian Tuberculosis and not one soprano came back from the dead for bows. The Ugly: Maybe the director. Actually, everyone looked pretty spiffy in their ball gowns and tight leather pants and tuxedos. Yes, it’s another “Choose your Own”, the fall back of some many detective and adventure stories with windy plots and indecisive writers. But I’ll over look that; this show is really about vocal brilliance with numbers from “Sweet Charity’s” “Hey Big Spender” to some opera I’ll misspell the name of and get a lecture from Erik Branch. The Italianate lyrics have been rewritten, the music compressed to fit into a flustered piano player cramped over a Casio keyboard and a magical mystic cloth back drop absorbed all the evil vibrations that spoil good voices. We decide life or death, fidelity or cheating, and whether the Big Gay Sub text will end in true love or just another one night stand. Does it matter which? I don’t know; I just want one of those champagne flutes filled with non-spill bubbly.

This show was part of the 2015 Orlando Fringe Festival. Information on tickets and times may be found at www.OrlandoFringe.org.
