Stewart Huff: Sense Ain’t Common

Stewart Huff: Sense Ain’t Common

Written and Presented by Stewart Huff

Gold Venue

The 2016 Orlando International Fringe Festival

Orlando, FL

Welcome back the most intellectual Redneck comedian in the South. Huff hails from Kentucky but sounds like he’s been to Berkley. His quest seeks how the human mind closes up between infancy and high school; it’s a worthy quest and I wish him luck. Tonight Huff gives us an overview of scientists and freethinkers who challenged the church and the scientific hierarchy. With blistering humor and tight timing he tells about a man beat to death with his own book for proposing a sun centered universe; a recent case of an Indian man shot for insisting faith healer prove their claims about flying, and how Alan Turing was killed for homosexuality after he cracked the German “Enigma” code. The audience here is much friendlier than he’s used to; and here’s how he sums up the life of a freethinker: “Ya oughtn’t have done that.” But he does; even though he might get slapped down any old time.
