The Bacon Brothers Announce Ballad of the Brothers

United by blood and a shared affinity for American roots music, Kevin Bacon, acclaimed Hollywood actor, and Michael Bacon, esteemed Emmy-winning composer, showcase their evolution as sharp songwriters and cinematic storytellers on Ballad of the Brothers, set to release on April 19.

The album, with its eclectic mix of edgy alt-rock, Motown-inspired soul, and introspective folk, combines distinct approaches to honor their shared musical heritage. Raised on a diet of 1970s singer/songwriters, Philly soul bands, and classic rock acts, The Bacon Brothers have come full circle, creating their own soundtrack that resonates with authenticity and innovation.

“We’re two musicians who write songs very differently, and we’ve grown to really appreciate those differences,” reflects Michael. Embracing the ethos of diversity, the Bacon Brothers infuse each track with a sense of dynamism, refusing to be confined by genre conventions. Their collaborative spirit shines through as they venture to Tennessee to collaborate with esteemed songwriters and embark on a sonic journey that transcends geographical boundaries.

The album itself is a testament to their ethos of exploration. From tracking “Live With The Lie” in New Jersey sans click tracks to infusing “Take Off This Tattoo” with unexpected elements like a fiddle solo, the Bacon Brothers might enjoy defying expectations, blurring the lines between autobiography and fiction in tales of love, loss, and redemption, against a backdrop of vivid imagery and heartfelt melodies.

Over three decades, the Bacon Brothers have traversed the musical landscape, blending folk, rock, soul, and country into a genre-defying concoction they affectionately term “forosoco.” From commanding stages in Japan to iconic venues like Carnegie Hall, the Grand Ole Opry, and Gruene Hall, their journey has been nothing short of exhilarating.

Listen to first single, “Put Your Hand Up,” and look for the full release on April 19 at the brothers’ website.
