Last Resort

Hailing from nearby Gainesville, this outfit really lives up to its name. Have you ever stood on a mountaintop in Montana and gazed up at the azure sky? It’s big. It’s huge!

The sound of this band fills a room. They offer a unique blend of soothing country, scorching blues, exotic jazz, and straight-ahead rock. Mark Gaignard shows an amazing vocal range as he runs the gamut of material on this disc. Chris Floyd and Benjamin Rowell make their guitars sing and cry, whichever is required at the moment. Ashton Allen rolls out the bass lines with incredible ease and Dave Moore’s accomplished drumming reminds me very much of Charlie Watts. Of special note is a scorching live recording of “House of Blues,” about the notorious New Orleans establishment. Last Resort Records, P.O.
