In Flux

Drum’n’Bass in Movement

IRMA America

I give thumbs up to this compilation of jumping jungle muzak. Irma did a good job in selecting cuts and artists (most of whom have put out on the label before) for In Flux. The thirteen cuts show the array of what styles of Drum’n’Bass (or Jungle) the label has out there. While most of the cuts are excellent, a couple are a bit over produced/commercial, like the cheesy RnB remix of the Average White Band by Slok and his cut “Arka.” However, there’s a subconscious groove looped inside each cut that sticks them all together pretty well. The material is good, housey in parts (Sensei), Speedy in places, Dub (Dub Alchemist) and more electronic in other cuts (Pogo’s disappointment). Would be rocking for mixing some nice modern shit, my friends. IRMA America, 214 W. 29th Street, Suite 1002, New York, NY 10001; http://worldmusic.com
