Long Fin Killie

Amelia

Too Pure

I’ve yet to hear a style as haunting as Long Fin Killie’s, and surprisingly, they do it without resorting to cliched etherealism or massive bouts of reverb. Heavy on the base, with a drummer light on his feet, Long Fin Killie involves lots of forays into falsetto, high-fret bass riffs, and good use of different instruments like violins and thumb pianos. But even at their happiest-sounding (“Bigger Than England”), they manage to convey a wistful longing for what might have been. Interesting and unique.
