Death/Invasion/Metal Blade
Way heavy, way brutal Scandinavian death metal. More and more of it, too! It’s hard, at first, to tell what The Everdawn are about, is it “black” metal? Is it pagan lore? Is it violence? After a closer look, it seems to be a healthy mix of all three, with a heaping dose of despair in a world where death is the only thing you can really count on.
The Everdawn are excellent technical craftsmen of death metal. “Territory Loss” and “When the Sunset Forever Fade” (sic) are death metal tour de forces of grinding guitars and screeching, bludgeoning vocals. As alluded to above, The Everdawn sing about despair, as exemplified on “Where Pain Never Dies” and “Autumn, Somber Autumn.” It as if they’re celebrating a lousy, could, wet rainy November day by staying inside and thinking about how rotten the weather is!
