Liquid Easter Sunday
Easter Sunday on South Beach – so who else to host but New York drag sensation Miss Lady Bunny. Bunny, who hosts Manhattan’s annual Wigstock festival and was recently profiled on HBO’s Dragtime special, is the star of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animal’s (PETA) new print advertisement targeting Procter & Gamble. That naughty company is still testing their products on animals. The ad spoofs Tide, a P&G product. Bunny is featured in Day-Glo housewife drag posing in a Laundromat with a fluorescent box of Died detergent. Headline? Sometimes Big bright Packages Contain Dirty Little Secrets. Bunny performed her Pussycat tune from last year’s God Shave the Queen CD to a packed crowd (I’m sure everyone had gone to church earlier), and free guides to animal friendly products were distributed. DJ Victor Calderone premiered his new Remix of Madonna’s “Ray of Light” and “Frozen.” A huge, huge thanks to Liquid for hosting this event. Thanks also to Boss Models for sponsoring the evening.

I’m standing in the lobby at intermission during opening night of Rent chugging coffee (the theater was freezing), and my friend Rob and I are noticing how many beautiful people there are in Miami. Oh yeah, Rent was spectacular. The singing was so amazing it gave me chicken skin. It must be wonderful to be able to sing like that. (I, however, do not sing in person. Not even “Happy Birthday.” All who know me truly appreciate this.) Rent runs until May 3rd at the Jackie Gleason Theater on Miami Beach.
