Armageddon

The Album

Columbia

I don’t know how good the movie is, but I know for sure this soundtrack rocks! Too many gems in this CD to mention in this brief review… From the first track, “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing,” a sappy, catchy, emotional rocker from Aerosmith, to the last, “Animal Crackers” sung by Steven Tyler with his daughter Liv talking in the background, this album is packed with excitement and good music. Steven Tyler and co. have three more tracks: “What Kind of Love Are You On,” another new release, and oldies but goodies “Come Together,” and “Sweet Emotion,” all well-performed, mixed, and produced.

Trevor Rabin, a guitar guru of the yesteryears, has composed and performed “Theme from Armageddon,” an intense, dramatic instrumental. Even Jon Bon Jovi doesn’t sound his usual self on “Mister Big Time,” but quite interesting, and it all fits well in the general feel of the album. Journey, featuring Steve Augeri on vocals, has “Remember Me,” and ZZ Top does a neat version of “La Grange.” Others include “Star Seed” by Our Lady Peace, Patty Smyth’s “Wish I Were You,” and Chantal Kreviazuk’s folky love song “Leaving on a Jet Plane.” Check it out!
