Eve To Adam

The South Beach Pub, Miami Beach • August 16, 1998

Eve To Adam is a fantastic new band that is signed to Universal Records and produced/managed by mega-songwriter and producer Desmond Child. This very talented line-up features Alex on drums, Johnny on guitar, Jules on bass, and vocalist Taki, who has an amazing voice with a wide range. The band is excellent, with a real tight rhythm section, and the guitars sound very ethereal and dreamy, kind of like the Cure or early Cult. Some of the songs they performed that night included “Rooms” and “Spells,” two of my favorites of theirs, along with the classic “Velvet Letters” – the title track of their forthcoming CD, to be recorded this fall – and also “One Day,” and “Shadows,” another classic favorite of mine they do. This one really sets the mood for their live shows, having a sultry, emotional groove with those minor cords that really move you. The last two songs of the night were “Brother” and “Losses.” By the time you read this, they’ll be doing an East Coast club tour, hitting such places as New York, Atlanta, and Ft. Lauderdale (at Club SOS in Pembroke Pines on September 5), and their CD will be released sometime next Spring. Don’t miss catching these guys live if you have the opportunity – they’ll be a very successful band very soon. ◼
