“guttermouth”

Guttermouth

From the Pharmacy

Nitro

Guttermouth, fronted by the indefatigable Mark Adkins, is one of these bands that is best experienced live. It is for that very reason that I don’t like this live CD. No, I am not contradicting myself.

A Guttermouth show is a frenzied celebration of pure punk perversion. The crowd and the band interact in a theatrical sensory overload of mindless mayhem that purges the soul of societal inhibitions. As much as I like a Guttermouth studio recording, a live show is infinitely better. But it is the “being there” that makes a show memorable. Listening to a live show on CD only makes me wish I were there. At best, it makes me jealous of the people that are there; at worst, it leaves me wondering when they’ll be in town again. In the meantime, I’ll listen to the studio stuff at home and enjoy live shows at a local venue. Nitro Records, 7071 Warner Ave., Suite F-736, Huntington Beach, CA 92647
