The Blue Whale

ShimmyDisc/Knitting Factory

Kramer has always had the knack for finding talented musicians to produce and distribute on his label. After a long hiatus, ShimmyDisc seems to be back and in full swing. The Blue Whale is a perfect example and an excellent trip into psychedelia. The main member is a gentleman by the name of Mars, and the rest of the band is a gathering of people with only one name. All of that aside, I enjoyed this record immensely. The only flaw in my opinion is “The Sky is so Blue,” mainly because it dragged on – and that is usually the downfall with any psychedelic band. Other than that, the remaining nine will remain in rotation on my CD player for a long time. Fans of Shimmy should really enjoy this offering.
