Cursive/Silver Scooter

Split 10”

Crank!

Silver Scooter deliver four more songs of plush indie pop songs with that emo appeal. The melodies are equally rich and wonderful in their upbeat songs that rock a bit as they are in the ones that hover around. You can tell they’ve spent a lot of time getting every little thing in every part of the song just right, as the blend of sound when they play is almost magical, it all fits together so perfectly. This is a band that consistently stays a favorite. The Cursive side resides farther into the emo realm for sure. They continue carving their own particular niche into the artsy side of things while keeping a handle on melody and structure. Their approach is off-center but they can still manage to make the songs enchant and stick in their own peculiar way.

This is a good record, both sides, although I have a tendency to listen to the Silver Scooter side more. The packaging should be familiar to those who have seen the Boys Life/Christie Front Drive ten inch from a while back. Very nice, but if it’s the packaging that’s making this thing so pricey I’d much more prefer something a bit less fancy next time. Crank!
