Stereo Total

Stereo Total

Bobsled

I could say Trio 1998 and that would give you a pretty good idea of what Stereo Total is all about. “Dactylo Rock,” the opening track and apparent musical theme for this record, starts with a typewriter, Hawaiian-sounding guitar and eventually adds bass and cheapo drum machine. Generally minimalist and frequently disturbingly synth-pop, Stereo Total keeps it simple and catchy, incorporating the occasional odd sound to tease and bring a smile to your face. I’m not sure what it’s all about, beyond what my rudimentary high school French tells me – some of this is in German, and there might be some highly-accented Japanese in there. A handful of distressing cover picks (KC and the Sunshine Band’s “Get Down Tonight” features Alex Chilton on drums) rounds out this album. Way cool! Bobsled Records, P.O. Box 6407, Aurora, IL 60598
