Jello Biafra

If Evolution is Outlawed, Only Outlaws Will Evolve

Alternative Tentacles/AK Press

There’s always room for Jello, or so goes the jingle. This three-disc set assembles material from several spoken-word performances (weren’t these called “lectures” at one time?) into several diatribes. Biafra dances a fine jig between libertarian and socialist dogmas, and while some may criticize him for being inconsistent because of that, to me it sounds like the result of thinking for yourself. I don’t necessarily agree with all of his views – I would be leery of anyone who did – but I have to admit that he’s an entertaining and charismatic speaker, with a great sense of drama and timing. This is more like an audio book than something you’d listen to repeatedly; even as such, it should provide plenty of subject matter for contemplation. Alternative Tentacles, P.O.
