Skapulario

Skapulario

PolyGram

The second Latin-rock band from Puerto Rico signed by a major record label, Skapulario has just released their second self-titled production. The album presents a refreshing dose of ska, marked by pop, reggae, and tropical arrangements.

To listen to this production is to be sprinkled with a great deal of happiness. I could almost see the seven band-members jumping while listening to songs like the intense “Chupasangre,” the entertaining “Criatura de la Noche,” and the contagious “La Bomba.” The album also presents some marvelous surprises like the pleasant soca/reggae “Escapulario” (also the first single) and the pulsating techno/new wave with ska arrangements called “Ska Acido.”

Skapulario is an excellent Latin ska band. This record is definitively a MUST-HAVE for Latin ska followers and a good beginning for those who don’t know what Latin ska is all about.
