“deviate”

Deviate

Darkened World

I Scream, Belgium

Either there’s five million metal-core bands too many, or I’m just heading to an early grave, but it seems that the majority of the records I’ve reviewed the last six months have been of the chugga-chugga choo-choo variety. It’s gotten to the point where I can’t see any more value of the two genres coexisting as one – just give me metal or give me hardcore. Sure, Deviate could be good, and there are people who probably dig them, but to me, it’s all just one big, monochromatic din – headache city, brother. Shit, if you’re going to do metal-core really, really well, talk to Converge or Integrity – then we’ll talk. Until then, keep that choo-choo train chugga-chugging past me.
