Dismemberment Plan

Ice of Boston EP

Interscope

This four song EP was released to give the band a little more exposure before their first major label release, on Interscope, is released. The first song, “Ice of Boston,” is taken from the previously released CD Dismemberment Plan is Terrified , on DeSoto Records. It’s a good song that definitely deserves to be released as an EP. The other three songs are produced by J. Robbins (ex-Jawbox, Burning Airlines), who has also produced Jets to Brazil, Promise Ring, and a bunch of other “hot” bands. “First Anniversary” is an unreleased track, “Just Like You” is taken from the Fort Reno comp. on Resis Records, and “Spider in the Snow” is a demo of a song that will be on their new album. The fact that all four songs are taken from different sessions gives a much better representation of the band, and their various sounds, than an EP recorded all at once would have. If you’re familiar with this band, I’m sure you’ll pick this up; if you aren’t then pick it up before the full length comes out, so you can tell everybody than “you knew them back when they were…”
