Sealed Fate

Sealed Fate, the label founded and run by the Dambuilders’ Eric Masunaga, has yet to release a dud in its admittedly sparse catalog, and this is no exception. A collection of fifteen pop gems, each strikingly different from the other. Astrud’s “Personal Mi Fracaso” is a haunting electronic collage of dejected Spanish lyricism and dream-like vocal interludes that are soaked in a rainy mix of toms and loops. The Fly Seville (who have an entire album of their own out recently, also recommended) weigh in with a majestic “The Taj Mahal of America.” Dopo Yumé (and MC Gnome) even provide some highly twisted rap-hop. And wonder of wonders, a bonus Push Kings track, sounding like a hastily re-crowned demo but much appreciated nevertheless. A true roadmap for those wishing to explore new sounds.
