Roger Eno

The Flatlands

All Saints/Thirsty Ear Recordings

There are some new strings attached to Roger’s piano. Well, he hasn’t exactly broken out the symphony, but it’s getting quite quartetish. You know, violins, cellos, stringy things. I don’t know who these quartetists are (not my forte), but they sound like the ones that play every time the camera pans back in that movie’s last slow scene where you’re left to figure it out. And the options are not exactly prime choice. But it’s always nice to hear real strings. Even Roger’s piano sounds are left in their natural state.

And the name of that movie? A Thousand Grey-skied Desolate Seaside Walks To Nowhere . Oh sure, there’s hope, but don’t get too worked up.
