The Bouncing Souls

Hopeless Romantic

Epitaph

So, I’m walking down to the local punk rock show. They aren’t letting anyone inside yet, so I take a seat out front with the punkers. I take a seat next against the wall of the club. Feeling a little uncomfortable, so I decide to hum a little Bouncing Souls to cheer me up.

“… we’ll go up on the Zipper, look out on the ocean…”

“… and puke it all up,” responded the girl sitting next to me with the Liberty Spikes.

“All the people will scream,” we sang together. Laughter. We sang some more of our favorite Souls songs until the doors opened.

There is something about the Bouncing Souls which forces the most complacent person to sing right out loud. They play a little cleaner on Hopeless Romantic than in the past, but they still bring the mid-tempo, catchy as all hell punk rock to ya. Nothing can harm you while you’re singing a Bouncing Souls song, it’s true! Sadly, in true Bouncing Souls fashion, I never saw the girl again, but I’m not going to let it keep me down.
