The Mendoza Line

When You’re Not Around

Kindercore

Walking the line of subtle pop is like doing the high-wire act. There is very little room for error, and should you miscalculate your balance, you’ll find yourself plummeting to certain death or humiliation. The Mendoza Line walk from post to post, then back, then again backwards blindfolded, and last, with a somersault in the middle as spinning plates are balanced on each end of the cross-pole. The sixteen songs on here all stem from your basic ’80s jangle, but each has a unique character and condition. The Mendoza Line play music that easily fades into the background and can just as easily consume your attention completely. The choice is yours, so if you’re the lazy type, you may as well get some yanny. The rest of us will clap, hoot and cheer as nary a plate is dropped.
